AD 101 Personal and Professional Development

For this project I have been asked to produce two things, the first a blog showing all my work and progress this blog is to be printed of and bond to be presented in my file. The second is a file showing inspiration and also progress from projects.

 

   What advantages did I have:

-          What section of the work did I complete well: I think that the section of work I completed well was the blog itself as I did enjoy posting about my work and it was interesting being able to see what the other students on my course were up to.

-          What was seen as my strength through this project (with in tutorials and results):  I think that my strength in this project was my organisational skills.

-          Which of my achievements in this project am I most proud of: I am most proud of my blog, it wasn’t easy to keep finding things to blog about but I believe that I have successfully commented on all my projects shown my progress.

Weaknesses

-          What task did I avoid in this project: the section I avoided was the file I enjoyed blogging be I wasn’t too sure about what I needed to provide for my file work.

-          What do other see as my weakness: my weakness would still be my spelling and I’m sure it is visible throughout this project but I have tried my hardest to improve this weakness.

-          What are my negative work habits: my negative habit would be to organise and plan but to never stick to what I have arranged to do.

New project:: AD109

This project is all about branding, I have been asked to provide a mission statement, a marked level, price point, competitors, customer profile and a brand identity and theme all of this is to be decided with in my group.  I am in a group of six students and are aim to come up with a company identity and product was of branding the products.

Within my group we have come up with idea of “Zelleri”

We provide six key collections every season that are sure to attract the sophisticated woman willing to make a statement. Inspired by nature’s most empowering features, each collection combines the classic look with unusual statement pieces. Theme: Soft, feminine and elegant with an earthy twist. This collection will include natural tones and may introduce floral prints as interlining.

The next stage of this project is to decide individually what section of product we would like to brand I have chosen womenswear. I must evidence my work with in a file showing my development. I must create a sketchbook that shows my working progress and ideas for branding this sketchbook must show the theme of Zelleri.  I must also produce developed sketches of at least 20 ideas and finally create 4 A3 final boards showing my branding concepts. The final this I need to complete is a 750 word report on the project this will help me reflect on my improved skills. 

Work completed: CAAD

For this project I have completed my two A3 boards showing my flat illustrations using adobe illustrator. This was the first time I used this program although I had never used it before it was very interesting to learning such a new skill. I am sure that in the future the skills I have gained though this project will be very useful and will help to further my career.

-          What advantages did I have: in this project I believe that my advantage on this project was my ability to catch on to the way the program worked allowing me to gain a basic understanding of the software.

-          What section of the work did I complete well: I think the section that I completed well was the layout of the final boards. As well as the final boards I have also been asked to collect a number of images showing my understanding of CAAD and to complete a report on CAAD over time.

-          What was seen as my strength through this project (with in tutorials and results):  I believe that my strength for this project was my ability to document my progress in my diary and also to put together notes that I could look back over if I was stuck.

-          Which of my achievements in this project am I most proud of: I am most proud of completing the boards using new software.

Weaknesses

-          What task did I avoid in this project:  the task I avoided was ones again the written part of the project.

-          What do other see as my weakness: my weakness would probably be seen as my lack of confidents on illustrator.

-          What are my negative work habits: my negative habit during this project would be the fact that I left some things until the last minute, as I found it difficult to balance the other project as well as this one.

Progress report on CAAD production

Over the last few weeks I have been completing my CAAD project so far I have been able to compete the illustrator part of the project all that I need to do now is to collect research of CAAD work over the period of time allowed and also complete a 1000 report on the subject.

CAAD review Diary entry

1^st February 2011: Introduction to project, on this first day of this project I met the new teacher and was also given a brief outline of the project which helped me understand what was expected of me over the following weeks. One of the things that I found out was that this new project would be linked with my “Steampunk” project AD108, I will be using my flat drawings of my designs and using illustrator to develop them by doing so I will gain an understanding of the project and also have skills in CAAD witch is a skill that many companies look for in there employees.

After finding out what the project entailed we were able to go on the software illustrator CS3 and look through some of the tools that we would be using. The most important tool that I will learn how to use is the pen tool by gaining skills with this it will be easier for me to use the program as this is seen as one of the difficult parts of this project, and I have been told practice makes perfect. As well at learning about the pen tool I was also shown some of the other tools that could be found within the program such as the colour and line thickness etc., I was also shown how to open up the program what size and options to choose (basically how to set up my work space).

Evaluation on AD104 Theory and Context

Work completed: AD104 report on Fenwick department store and essay on the Cotton trade 

Strengths

-          What advantages did I have: my advantage for this project was that I chose a store that I knew well one that I had personally shopped in, this gave me an insight in to the customer who shopped there.

-          What section of the work did I complete well: I think that the section I completed well was the essay I chose to complete it on the cotton trade and I enjoyed collecting the research and writing it up, I found that the essay was much easier than the report to write.

-          What was seen as my strength through this project (with in tutorials and results):  the strength for this project was my essay like I have mentioned before I believe that because I enjoyed the subject I found it easier to write up.

-          Which of my achievements in this project am I most proud of: the achievement I am most proud of was the completion of both sections I would say that written work is not one of my best subjects so for me to of completed it gave me a boost of confidents.

Weaknesses

-          What task did I avoid in this project: the task I avoided was writing up the report as I knew I find it difficult to stay concentrated.

-          What do other see as my weakness: I would say that the main weakness would be my spelling and punctuation, but I am always trying to improve this.

-          What are my negative work habits: my negative work habits would be to plan to do work but to never carry it out.
